Bed & Breakfasts—Southport

  • For over two centuries, the Brunswick Inn has graced the coastal waters of Southport, North Carolina.  This Federal-style mansion is located at 301 East Bay Street just steps away from the waterfront.  The home was first built in 1800 in the rapidly growing seaside town.  The beautiful, Southern porch will take your breath away as you pull up to this stately manor.  Sprawling live oaks tussled by the sea breezes dot the property and rocking chairs await you on the veranda.

The home offers three relaxing and romantic rooms each with private bath and a working fireplace.  Throughout the home there are a total of nine working fireplaces perfect to read or snooze by.  Two of the rooms have a queen sized bed and the third room has two queen sized beds.  You’ll enjoy purple sunsets on the waterway and some of the best food in the area.  The Inn is owned and operated by Jim and Judy Clary, friends of Robert Carroll and the best hosts in the area.  Come join them for a visit and experience one of Southport’s truly unique historical landmarks.  You can reach them by phone at 910-457-5278 or visit their website www.brunswickinn.com
  • The Robert Ruark Inn, located at 119 N. Lord Street in quaint Southport, North Carolina is named for one of the area’s acclaimed hometown writers.  Ruark traveled the world from exotic tropical locations to far-away settings of the Orient, but he always maintained a permanent home in Southport—his true home.  He was most known for his travels in Africa and subsequent works as well as his long time columns in Field & Stream Magazine.

This Inn features classic Victorian architecture and interior décor with four large suites, a beautiful stone patio dining area, a formal dining room, a sprawling modern kitchen, and a majestic formal living room and parlor.  This timeless Bed & Breakfast boasts an intimate seaside setting as well as all the modern luxuries you’d expect.  For more details or reservations, visit their website www.robertruarkinn.com or call 910-363-4169.
  • Located in the heart of Southport, North Carolina at 106 W. Bay Street is Lois Jane’s Riverview Inn.  The Inn was built in the 1890’s by Lois Jane’s Grandfather and handed down amongst the family.  In 1995, Lois Jane’s children restored the Inn to its original glory with authentic furniture and other antique pieces.  Many of the settings are old family heirlooms that give the Inn that special touch of Southport flavor.

The home features a gorgeous, white wrap-around porch with a second-story balcony above, giving guests some of the most stunning coastal views in the area.  There are four rooms available and a luxury suite as well which was once used as an apartment for Lois Jane’s friends and family.  Guests can plan for a full southern-style breakfast each morning and wine and hors d’oeuvres in the evening.  To plan your Cape Fear getaway, call 910-457-6701 or visit www.loisjanes.com online for more details.
